Colorado Ballet Society's Pre-Professional Division, Colorado Youth Ballet, and Connexus Dance Collective present The Sleeping Beauty.
Act 1 will open with a new contemporary work, Valley of Detachment, choreographed by Laci Landry and Nichole Bennis. Valley of Detachment, an abstract work set to an intriguing collection of music by Angèle David-Guillou, explores an architectural concept of valleys and an internal sense of detachment through the use of angles and intersecting planes.
Act 2 presents the timeless fairytale ballet "A Sleeping Beauty". Cursed by the evil fairy Carabosse at her Christening, Princess Aurora's fate is to prick her finger on a spindle at her eighteenth birthday and fall into a slumber of 100 years. The Lilac Fairy bestows her gift to the King and Queen where only a Prince's kiss can break the spell and awaken, The Sleeping Beauty.
